Houston, Texas Β· Since December 1983
An agency built from one client's loss.
Aimbest Insurance Services has spent over four decades helping Texans plan against the unexpected – because the agency was founded the day its founder realized he hadn’t planned well enough for one.

Meet the founder
A career that began with a knock on the door.
In 1982, Abdul Aziz Soomro joined a life insurance company whose agents collected premiums from clients door-to-door. It was straightforward work – meet families, write policies, collect payments, move on.
Within six months, the work stopped feeling straightforward.
A young husband on his route died suddenly in an accident. His widow was left with five children – and a life insurance policy that paid out five thousand dollars . It was barely enough to bury him. There was nothing left to live on.
Mr. Soomro carried that family to the funeral home. And he carried the lesson home with him.
"
I just went along with helping the couple maintain their life policy without ever thinking of upgrading it so it would cover lost wages for the family for at least a couple of years. That is when I took a long sabbatical, and a detailed research began as to how to coverΒ all aspects of planning .

Four decades, one principle
The story of Aimbest, in chapters.
From a single Houston desk in 1983 to a specialist advisory practice today – built on the conviction that real planning means looking at the whole picture, not just the policy in front of you.
The case that changed everything.
A widow with five children. A $5,000 policy. A funeral that consumed every cent of it. The catalyst behind every decision Aimbest has made since.
Aimbest opens in Houston, Texas.
After months of research, Mr. Soomro founds Aimbest with a clear mission: insurance built around the whole client, not the single policy in front of them. Total Planning becomes the agency’s operating principle from day one.
Building the foundation: licensing, training, NAIFA.
Mr. Soomro acquires the full range of insurance licenses and joins the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) as a paying member. He commits to NAIFA’s three-year training program – classroom study combined with structured field training.
LUTCF designation earned.
At the end of three years of study and field work, Mr. Soomro earns the LUTCF – Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow – a recognized industry designation that formalizes the total-advisor approach he had been building since the agency’s founding.
From single office to multi-branch operation.
Over two decades, Aimbest grows into a full-scale Texas insurance operation – multiple offices, expanding lines of coverage, deeper carrier relationships, and a growing client base across personal and commercial insurance.
A deliberate transformation.
Mr. Soomro sells the operations and branches of Aim Insurance of Texas – and keeps Aimbest Insurance Services as a specialist advisory practice. The goal isn’t to shrink. It’s to focus. Fewer clients, deeper service, and time to do what the original mission asked: educate veterans and the next generation of independent agents on the total advisor approach, so families and businesses aren’t blindsided.
An independent Texas brokerage at Egret Bay.
Aimbest operates from its Egret Bay office in Houston as an independent brokerage placing business, home, auto, and health coverage for Texans – supported by a tight team and a growing franchise network of agents who share the total-advisor philosophy.
What we believe
The total advisor approach.
Four decades on, the principles that started Aimbest are the same ones we work by today. Not slogans – operating rules.
Look at the whole picture.
A policy isn't a plan. Real protection comes from understanding the client's full life -income, dependents, assets, liabilities, future - before recommending any single coverage.
Independent, on your side.
We work for the client, not for a carrier. As an independent brokerage we compare options across markets - so the recommendation is shaped by your needs, not someone else's quota.
Educate, don't just sell.
Clients who understand their coverage make better decisions. We explain trade-offs in plain language - and we train other advisors to do the same, so the next generation carries it forward.
Earn the designations.
From NAIFA membership to the LUTCF designation, we believe credentials matter. They mean someone has actually done the work to know what they're advising on.
Long relationships beat quick wins.
Many of our clients have been with Aimbest for decades. That's not a marketing claim - it's how the agency was designed to work from the beginning.
Don't let a client get blindsided.
The lesson from 1982 still drives every conversation: a client should never discover their coverage gap at the worst possible moment. That's why we plan, review, and re-review.
